Week 4 - Assignment

Meeting Agenda and Participation Plan

Assignment

Your portfolio: Interpersonal Communication Portfolio

Design a meeting that turns a communication problem into coordinated action with clear participation and follow-through.

Your task

Plan a 30-minute team meeting to resolve a recurring referral or service handoff problem.

What to submit

  • A one-page meeting agenda with purpose, outcomes, timed topics, and preparation
  • A participation plan naming facilitator, note-taker, decision owner, and contributors
  • A decision-and-action log template with owner and follow-up time
  • A 200-word reflection on how the plan supports inclusive participation

How to complete it

  1. Define the meeting's decision, non-goals, participants, and required preparation.
  2. Sequence the agenda so evidence and perspectives lead to a decision or next action.
  3. Assign roles and design a response for an off-topic concern or unequal participation.
  4. Build the action log and revise the plan for clarity, access, timing, and accountability.

Check your work

  • The agenda makes the purpose, decision, time, and preparation visible.
  • Roles support participation without silencing relevant concerns.
  • The action log captures owner, action, timing, dependency, and escalation.
  • The reflection connects meeting design to coordinated workplace action.
